Osteoporosis is among one of the most common bone diseases, so common it has its own foundation, NOF or the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Its claimed that 54 million Americans are either living with, or at risk of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a disease that causes the bones to become weak and brittle, little falls, even coughing or bending over can cause fractures. There are no symptoms until a bone fracture in most cases. There is no cure but treatments include medications, healthy diet and weight-bearing exercise.

Rickets

Also called Osteomalacia, Rickets is a weakening and softening of the bones in children. This disease is extremely rare with fewer than 1,000 US cases each year. A few symptoms include delayed growth, bow legs, weakness, and pain in the pelvis, spine, and legs. A few treatments include adding vitamin D to the diet, medications, and possibly surgery.

Bone Tumor

Also called a bone neoplasm. Caused when a mass of unusual cells grows in a bone. This disease is rare, with less than 200,000 cases per year. Some bone tumors cause a painless mass, a dull, aching pain, or a fracture near the tumor caused by a minor injury. This disease is treatable by radiation, or surgery, some noncancerous tumors disappear without radiation.
